About Brampton Community for Forces
Using Brampton Community Centre as its base, we support the members of the various forces representatives, service personnel, their families and associated other beneficiaries (such as retired personnel or veterans). Although the work is Brampton centric, its influence is over a wider footprint to the east and north of Carlisle City, with around 15-18,000 inhabitants.
What can we help with?
Help is available to link you with organisations that are there to help you with difficult times, perhaps money worries, depression, housing, advice and information etc. Please see 'What does it mean in practical terms?' below.
As a veteran (anyone who has served over the age of 16), a member of the TA or Reserves, or anyone who is someone from the Forces Community (such as family members of serving personnel or veterans) has a right under the Armed Forces Covenant to support. The covenant aims to bring together the armed forces community and the civilian community on a local level, nurturing mutual understanding and raising awareness of issues faced by the armed forces. Organisations of any kind can sign up to the pledge to act together to honour the Armed Forces Covenant.
So what does that mean in practical terms?
It means all parties, organisations, employers, NHS, DWP and more that work within a community offer support to the local Armed Forces community and make it easier for service personnel, families and veterans to access the help and support available from the MOD.
Benefits range from guaranteed job interviews, to early entry onto support programmes. The corporate covenant works along the same principles, and builds on the principle of corporate social responsibility.
